Areas of Practice
What we do
Patents
Full-service patent practice for inventors, startups, and established companies. We prepare and prosecute utility, design, and provisional applications before the USPTO, and coordinate international filings through the PCT and Paris Convention. Our engineering background lets us draft claims that genuinely capture the invention — covering electrical, software, mechanical, and signal-processing technologies. We also handle freedom-to-operate analyses, validity and infringement opinions, patentability searches, office action responses, appeals, and post-grant proceedings.
Trademarks
End-to-end brand protection: knockout and full clearance searches, federal and state registration, Madrid Protocol international filings, and ongoing portfolio management. We monitor for infringing uses, file and defend oppositions and cancellations before the TTAB, send and respond to cease-and-desist letters, and negotiate coexistence and licensing agreements. We help clients build brand strategies that scale from a single mark to a global portfolio.
Copyrights
Copyright registration with the U.S. Copyright Office for software, written, visual, audio, and audiovisual works. We draft and negotiate licensing agreements, assignments, and work-for-hire contracts, advise on fair use and DMCA compliance, and pursue or defend infringement claims. Particular depth in software copyright, open-source compliance, and content licensing for digital platforms.
Trade Secrets
Trade-secret programs that actually hold up: identification and classification of protectable information, internal policies, employee and contractor NDAs, onboarding and exit procedures, and access controls. We litigate misappropriation under the Defend Trade Secrets Act and state equivalents, and counsel on protecting confidential information during M&A, joint ventures, and partner negotiations.
Computer & Internet Law
Legal infrastructure for software and online businesses: SaaS and end-user license agreements, terms of service, privacy policies, GDPR and CCPA compliance, data-processing addenda, hosting and reseller agreements, domain disputes (UDRP), DMCA notices and counter-notices, and platform liability counseling. We help technology companies launch and scale without getting caught off-guard by legal exposure.
AI Law
Specialized counsel on the legal questions emerging around artificial intelligence: ownership of AI-generated output, training-data licensing and risk, model deployment and indemnification, open-source AI compliance, regulatory developments (EU AI Act, U.S. executive orders, state laws), and IP strategy for AI-driven products. Our engineering background — including neural-network architectures and signal processing — lets us engage with the technology, not just the headlines.
